The stage is set for the hosting of the Champion of Champions football match in Ghana on Sunday to herald the new season.

Ghana Premier League (GPL) champions Medeama SC will play FA Cup winners Nations FC in the traditional curtain raiser to the start of the new campaign.

This year's game will be played at the TnA Stadium, Tarkwa this afternoon with a giant trophy and medals at stake for the victors.

It is expected to be an uncompromising encounter in the mining township as both clubs put in the final preparations before the start of competitive action next weekend.

The two Ghanaian clubs will be representing the country in continental competition next season.

Medeama SC will play in the CAF Champions League with Nations FC set to compete in the CAF Confederation Cup competition.

Those competitions, start next weekend with Medeama SC set to host TP Mazembe of DR Congo in a preliminary round first leg tie in Tarkwa.

Nations FC will be away in Mali to play FC Diarra in a similar exercise in the second tier African club competition.

Today's Champion of Champions game therefore, will not be taken lightly by either side as they put in the final dress rehearsal for next weekend's continental matches.
