Medeama SC wins 2026 Champion of Champions trophy after beating Nations FC at Tarkwa

Ghana Premier League (GPL) champions Medeama SC have been crowned the 2026 Champion of Champions after a comfortable 2-0 victory over Nations FC.

The contest, played at the TnA Stadium, Tarkwa, saw the Mauve and Yellow score in each half to claim the title.

Abdul Fatawu Suleman opened the scoring from the spot in the first half, before Emmanuel Annor doubled the lead in the second against his former club to seal the trophy for Medeama.

This game, traditionally opens the door for the start of the 2026-27 Ghana football season, and, that campaign starts next weekend with the top-flight competition.

Medeama SC will now look to build on this latest victory as they go into continental battle next weekend in the CAF Champions League.

They will be up against TP Mazembe of DR Congo in a first leg preliminary round game in front of their home fans at the TnA Stadium.

The two-time Ghana champions will aim for a good result to take into the return fixture in DR Congo.

On the part of Nations FC, they will have to put this defeat behind them quickly as they make their maiden appearance in African club competition.

The Ghana FA Cup winners, will compete in the CAF Confederation Cup competition starting this coming weekend.

They will be away to Malian side FC Diarra in a first leg preliminary round tie in Bamako before returning to Ghana to host the return fixture.

With the GPL starting this weekend, Medeama SC will not be involved in the opening day matches due to their continental assignment.
