Boxing: WABA Africa Headquarters to be stationed in Ghana

After a general consensus, the Board of the World Alliance Boxing Association (WABA) has announced that its continental headquarters in Africa will be stationed in Ghana.

Therefore, its major operations would be conducted from Accra as WABA seeks to exerts its influence on African sport.

The announcement was contained in a release signed by 

President of the WABA Ky Col Onesmo Alfred McBride Ngowi.

It said: “WABA has approved the request for its Africa's continental BODY, (the WABA AFRICA) to move to the Republic of Ghana.”

“The move underscores the importance of the Republic of Ghana in the continent's boxing fraternity as it exert it's muscles in the growth and development of the sport of boxing and combat sports.”

WABA has also announced Ghanaian Gilbert Mitch Woollams as the Vice President in charge of WABA AFRICA and hardworking journalist Prince Dornu-Leiku as its Media Czar.

The release added that this will give the office the mandate of creating titles within the continent of Africa. 

Titles envisaged are national, zonal and regional in both boxing and combat sports (MMA, K1, Musythai and Kickboxing) in Semi-professional and professional status.

With the WABA office now in Ghana, it will be its fourth regional body joining others in WABA USA in Atlanta, Georgia (USA), WABA Latin America in Sao Paulo, (Brazil) and WABA Asian Pacific in Cebu, (The Philippines).

The intention of WABA is to create it's continental offices in sub continents in the continents of the world.
