Ghana international Gideon Mensah has penned an emotional tribute to French Ligue 1 side AJ Auxerre as he leaves the club.
The defender, departs the French club following the expiration of his contract.
In a Facebook post, Mensah thanked the club, its coaching staff, fellow players and the fans for the welcome they offered him during his stay.
Mensah wrote: "After four unforgettable years, the time has come to say goodbye.
I leave this club with a heart full of gratitude. Wearing this shirt has been a true honor, and I have always given my all for this emblem.
To my teammates, coaches, staff, and all the people behind the scenes: thank you for your trust, your support, and for helping me grow, both as a player and as a person.
To the supporters, thank you for being by my side from day one. Your passion, loyalty, and unwavering support have made every moment even more special. I will always cherish the memories of the times we have shared.
As I begin a new chapter, I leave with nothing but respect, appreciation, and love for this club. It will always hold a special place in my heart.
Thank you for these four incredible years. This isn't goodbye, but see you soon," he ended.
Mensah, was part of the Ghana squad that participated in the ongoing FIFA World Cup where the Black Stars exited the competition at the Round of 32 stage.
He is expected to join German Bundesliga side FC Koln ahead of the start of the 2026/27 football season.
