Asante Kotoko coach Eric Tinkler said his target is to finish in the top two this season in the Ghana Premier League (GPL) which starts next month.
The former South African international, is in charge of technical affairs at the Garden City club, having signed a two-year deal.
Tinkler, has been taken his charges through pre-season as the prepare for what would be a demanding campaign.
"My target is to finish in the top two in the league next season," Coach Tinkler said after their last friendly game on Tuesday.
That game was against fellow GPL side Heart of Lions at the University of Ghana Stadium, Legon, an encounter Kotoko won 1-0.
"The boys are responding well in our pre-season rituals, and I am confident that they will be up to the task when the season begins."
Asante Kotoko are currently in Accra as they look to wrap-up their pre-season preparations.
The team will round-up their campaign in the Ghanaian capital on Saturday when they play second tier side Sempe-Fi at the University of Ghana Stadium, Legon, Accra.
Asante Kotoko will return to base after this game to continue with their preparations for the start of the new season.
They will face their arch rivals Accra Hearts of Oak on August 28 in the Democracy Cup in what will most probably be their last friendly before the season begins.
Asante Kotoko will open their account in the 2026/27 GPL campaign away to newly promoted Debibi United on Sunday, September 6, 2026.
