A five hour tennis marathon ended in victory for 19-year-old João Fonseca stunned Novak Djokovic at the French Open on Friday.
In a thrilling five set battle, Brazilian Foncesca, defeated Djokovic 4-6, 4-6, 6-3, 7-5, 7-5 to advance to the next round of the competition.
It was a sweet comeback from the young Brazilian star after being two sets down in this third round contest that lasted four hours and 53 minutes.
Fonseca in the first teenager to beat Djokovic at a Grand Slam, ending the Serbs quest to win a record 25th major.
The Brazilian will face either two-time finalist at Roland Garros Casper Ruud of the Netherlands or American Tommy Paul in the fourth round as he chases a first Grand Slam title.
Also through to the fourth round is another 19-year old Rafael Jodar of Spain who has emerged as a genuine title contender after winning 18 of his 21 clay-court matches in 2026.
