Hearts of Oak move home venue to Legon following closure of Accra Sports Stadium pitch

Accra Hearts of Oak SC have been made to change their home venue as the 2026-27 Ghana Premier League (GPL) starts this weekend.

The Phobians announced the Accra Sports Stadium as venue for their home matches next season, but they have been forced to make temporary adjustment following the closure of the facility.

Hearts of Oak has made temporary arrangements with the University of Ghana to use their Stadium for their opening two home games of next season as the Accra Sports Stadium pitch is being made ready for international assignment.

The capital club will open their account for next season on Sunday when they host Berekum Chelsea in their first game.

That game will come off at the University of Ghana Stadium, Legon as they Phobians look to start the season on a high.

This arrangement by Accra Hearts of Oak has become necessary following the unavailability of the Accra Sports Stadium to facilitate preparations of the pitch for Ghana's September AFCON 2027 qualifier against The Gambia.
