Gideon Mensah becomes the fifth Ghanaian to sign for German Bundesliga side FC Koln


Ghana international Gideon Mensah has become the fifth Ghanaian to sign for German Bundesliga side FC Köln according to available records.

Mensah, said for the German top-flight side last week as he looks to take his football career to new heights.

The 27-year old joins the German side after his contract with French Ligue 1 side AJ Auxerre ended.

The Black Stars player, is following in the footsteps of fellow Ghanaians Anthony Baffoe, Edward Sarpei, Derek Boateng, and Kingsley Schindler who all played for FC Koln during various stages of their careers.

The left-back will be hoping to replicate his outstanding performance for Ghana at the ongoing FIFA World Cup in North America.

He helped the Black Stars reach the Round of 32 before losing to Colombia at the tournament.

The former WAFA player, will hope to perform for the Billy Goats at the RheinEnergieStadion when the new German season starts in August.

Mensah and his new teammates, will look to help the club improve on last season’s 14th-place finish.
