Check out where the 10 African nations will be based at the FIFA World Cup

The 2026 FIFA World Cup starts on Thursday, June 11 when co-hosts Mexico plays South Africa in the opening game at the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City.

Africa has 10 representatives at the tournament with the countries based at separate locations.

Here is a look at where all the 10 countries will be based during the tournament.

​Morocco: New Jersey (USA) — The Atlas Lions will set up camp at The Pingry School, located in the New York region about an hour from Manhattan.

​Senegal: New Jersey (USA) — The Lions of Teranga will be stationed on the campus of Rutgers University.

Algeria: Kansas City (USA) — The Desert Warriors have selected the University of Kansas as their base, a region that will also host several other global football powerhouses.

Egypt: Spokane (USA) — The Pharaohs will fine-tune their preparations at Gonzaga University.

Côte d’Ivoire: Philadelphia (USA) — The Elephants will be based around Subaru Park, utilizing the Philadelphia Union Training Facility and the WSFS Bank Sportsplex.

Ghana: Boston/Smithfield (USA) — The Black Stars have locked in Bryant University as their official tournament headquarters.

Cape Verde: Tampa, Florida (USA) — For their historic, first-ever World Cup appearance, Cape Verde will be settling on the Florida coast in Tampa.

DR Congo: Houston, Texas (USA) — The Leopards will be hosted at the Houston Training Center, right in the heart of a city boasting a vibrant Congolese community.

Tunisia: Monterrey (Mexico) — The Carthage Eagles will operate out of CF Monterrey's elite Rayados Training Centre.

South Africa: Pachuca (Mexico) — Bafana Bafana have chosen CF Pachuca's Universidad del Fútbol for their World Cup preparations.

​One thing is certain: Africa will be heavily represented across North America, with strategic bases spread across both the United States and Mexico.
