The 2026/27 Ghana Premier League (GPL) campaign is expected to kick off on the weekend of September 4-7, 2026 with some interesting fixtures lined up throughout the season.
There are some key fixtures to look out for when the season starts and, these are some mouthwatering encounters coming up.
Matchday One
It starts rolling on the opening weekend when newly promoted
Debibi United hosts giants Asante Kotoko at the Debibi Presbyterian School Park.
The GPL debutants, will fancy their chances of causing an upset in this fixture in front of their home fans.
Also on the opening weekend, two newly promoted sides Port City FC and FC AshantiGold 04, will go head-to-head.
Port City FC are the hosts and, they will aim to start their adventure in Ghana's top-flight with a win over their fellow debutants.
Matchday Three
On the third week fixture list, FC Samartex 1996, will welcome Asante Kotoko to the Nsenkyire Sports Arena, Samreboi in a blockbuster affair.
The Timber Giants have been very strong at home against visiting teams, and Asante Kotoko should not expect any favours going into this contest.
Another giant Accra Hearts of Oak will host Bechem United in Accra in what should be another keenly contested affair.
Matchday Five
Dreams FC will be home to Accra Hearts of Oak of Matchday Five in an encounter they will look to win against the Phobians.
Also on Matchday Five, Asante Kotoko will host Karela United in Kumasi hoping to repeat their performance of last season when they won this fixture 4-2.
Matchday Nine
On Matchday Nine, Asante Kotoko will welcome reigning champions Medeama SC to Kumasi in a game that should thrill.
Last season, the Porcupines had to dig deep to earn a point after Medeama SC took a 2-0 lead and were coasting to a win.
This is a fixture that stakeholders will be keenly interested in.
Matchday 10
Bechem United will host FC Samartex 1996 on Matchday 10 in an expected dogfight as the two, battle for the three points.
Another game to look out for on Matchday 10 will be between Accra Hearts of Oak and Heart of Lions in Accra.
Games between these two sides at any time, have been fiercely contested and, this upcoming contest is expected to follow a similar pattern.
Matchday 13
The first Super Clash in Ghana football next season, will be played on Matchday 13 when Asante Kotoko hosts their bitter rivals Accra Hearts of Oak in Kumasi.
The Phobians won this fixture last season when they pipped Asante Kotoko by a goal and, they will aim to record another win on the day.
Revenge will very much be on the minds of the Porcupines who have stated their ambition of winning the upcoming championship.
Matchday 17
The end of the first round of the competition will be on Matchday 17 and, it will see
defending champions Medeama SC at home to Accra Hearts of Oak in Tarkwa.
This is an anticipated fireworks affair with both sides expected to give it their all on matchday.
Matchday 26
When the second round of the campaign starts,
Medeama SC will host Asante Kotoko in a blockbuster fixture at Tarkwa on Matchday 26.
The Mauve and Yellow, thumbed Asante Kotoko 4-1 at Tarkwa on their way to winning their second GPL title last season, and they will look to repeat the dose on the day.
Asante Kotoko, will have other ideas going into this contest, as they have ambitions of their own.
Matchday 30
The final Super Clash of the season will be played on Matchday 30 when Accra
Hearts of Oak welcomes Asante Kotoko to the capital.
The result from the first round fixture, will definitely be on the minds of both sides when this encounter comes out.
