Augustine Boakye scored in the 87th minute to hand reigning champions Gold Stars a 2-1 home win over Accra Hearts of Oak on Sunday.
It was the first ever home win for the Miners in the Ghana Premier League after three drawn games and a defeat in their previous four meetings at the Dun's Park, Bibiani.
Gold Stars, also ended Hearts of Oak’s six-game unbeaten run in the league.
The home side also became the first team to score against the Phobians in the second round of the competition as they moved to within one point of leaders Medeama SC.
Samuel Atta Kumi opened the scoring for Gold Stars as they took a 1-0 first half lead in front of their home fans.
Hearts of Oak got the equalizer midway through the second half through Henry Kwaku Boateng before Boakye struck the winner for Gold Stars with three minutes to end play.
Gold Stars are second on the table with 45 points after 24 matches, a point behind leaders Medeama SC who drew goalless away to All Blacks also on Sunday.
