The Chief Director of the Ministry of Sports and Recreation, Wilhelmina Asamoah, has commended the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) for their generous donation of GH₵ 40,000.00 to the Sports Fund.
The donation was made during a recent visit by the Minister for Youth and Recreation, Kofi Adams, to the GOC headquarters, where he met with GOC President Richard Akpokavie and other officials to discuss ways to strengthen collaboration and support for Ghanaian athletes.
Mrs. Asamoah expressed her gratitude and appreciation for the GOC's contribution, acknowledging the significance of their support in boosting the Sports Fund.
"This generous donation is a testament to the GOC's commitment to promoting sports development in Ghana," she said. “We are grateful for their leadership and dedication to the cause. The Ministry will continue to work closely with the GOC to ensure that our athletes receive the support they need to excel on the international stage.”
The GOC President, Richard Akpokavie, presented the cheque to Mr Kofi Adams, amidst a gathering of key officials from the Ministry and various sports federations.
Mr Akpokavie expressed his appreciation for the Minister's visit and commitment to supporting Ghanaian athletes. He noted that the GOC is committed to working with the government to promote sports development and enhance the welfare of Ghanaian athletes.
The donation is part of the GOC's efforts to support the government's initiatives in promoting sports development and enhancing the welfare of Ghanaian athletes. The Sports Fund is expected to provide much-needed resources for sports infrastructure, athlete support, and capacity-building programs.
The GOC's contribution is a significant boost to the Fund, and it is expected to make a real difference in the lives of Ghanaian athletes.
