Gold Stars Signs Swiss National Schmid As New Head Coach On Two-year Deal

Reigning Ghana Premier League (GPL), champions Bibiani Gold Stars have announced the singing of Fritza Markus Schmid as their new head coach.

The Swiss national, has signed a two-year deal with the Miners, becoming the new helmsman at the Dun’s Park.

“We’re pleased to share that Swiss international Fritz Markus Schmid has joined us as our new head coach, signing a two-year contract with the club, Gold Stars said in a release posted on their media channels.

The post added: “Coach Fritz comes with deep experience at the highest levels of the game having previously worked as an assistant coach at English Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur, FC Basel in Switzerland and the Austria National Team.”

He has also served as head coach of the New Zealand men’s national team.

More recently in Ghana, he played a key role in guiding Kotoku Royals to promotion into the GPL.

Coach Schmid, has already started work with the Miners, and was heavily involved in the club’s 1-0 away win at Hohoe United last Sunday in the league.

He is expected to guide the team on in the GPL this weekend when Gold Stars hosts Dreams FC at Bibiani.

Gold Stars, are fourth on the table with 25 points after 15 matches, three points behind leaders Aduana FC going into this weekend’s round of matches.
