Ghana began her quest for glory at the 2026 Women African Cup of Nations with a comfortable win over Cape Verde in their Group D opener on Wednesday.
The Black Queens scored in each half to win the game 2-0 as they began their campaign at the Moulay Rachid Stadium in Casablanca, Morocco.
Goals by Doris Boaduwaa in the first half and and own goal, secured the win for Ghana as they top the group after the opening matches in the pool.
This was a comfortable victory for the Black Queens as they chase a first ever win at the African continental showpiece.
Ghana have been three times runners up at the WAFCON tournament, and, finished third at the last event also held in Morocco.
In the other Group D game played on Wednesday, Cameroon beat Mali 2-1 to join Ghana on three points going into the next group games.
Ghana will play Cameroon in their next game on Sunday with Mali facing Cape Verde on the same day.
