GPL thrills this weekend as Asante Kotoko plays Nations FC in Kumasi with Hearts of Oak away to Heart of Lions
The Ghana Premier League resumes on Friday
The Porcupines have never beaten Nations FC in the Ghana Premier League
Record winners of the Ghana Premier League (GPL) title Asante Kotoko will aim for a first ever league win over Nations FC on Sunday.
The Porcupines will host their city rivals at the Baba Yara Stadium, Kumasi in a GPL Matchday 26 fixture.
Since they joined the Elite Division of Ghana football a couple of seasons ago, Asante Kotoko have never beaten Nations FC in the league.
In four meetings, Nations FC have won one and drawn three games in both home and away encounters.
Asante Kotoko will look to break that jinx on Sunday in this local derby in the Garden City.
That however, will be a difficult assignment based on the form of both sides at the moment.
Nations FC are flying high in both domestic competitions, currently placed ninth on the GPL table with 34 points, five points behind Asante Kotoko who are fifth.
Nations FC are also into the last four of the MTN FA Cup competition as they look to win the trophy for the first time.
Going into Sunday's encounter with their more illustrious neighbours, Nations FC will not be easy pushovers for the Porcupines.
Kotoko, have dropped in form in their last three matches, winning, drawing one and losing the other.
There is tension and pressure on the team to deliver, and they must up their game if they hope to produce a first ever league win over Nations FC on Sunday.
