Reigning Ghana Premier League (GPL) champions Medeama SC will play their first game of the season this weekend as they begin the defence of the title they won last season.
The Mauve and Yellow will trek to the harbour city of Tema to play Vision FC on Saturday at the Nii Adjei Kraku II Sports Complex.
The 2026-27 GPL campaign will continue with the Matchday Three fixtures this weekend.
However, Medeama SC will be playing their opening game of the campaign having sat out the opening two weekends of the competition.
This was as a result of their campaign in the African inter-club competition where they competed in the CAF Champions League.
Their foray in the competition ended at the preliminary round as they were eliminated by five-time champions TP Mazembe on a 4-1 aggregate after two legs.
Medeama SC now turns their attention to the domestic scene where they will compete on two fronts in the GPL and the knock out competition.
The Tarkwa-based club heads into battle on Saturday against a Vision FC side that has began the season with a win and a loss in their opening two fixtures.
Coach Ibrahim Tanko and his charges will look to begin the defence of their title with a win at Tema on Saturday in the first of the GPL Matchday Three fixtures this weekend.
Their opening two fixtures against Dreams FC (home) and newly promoted Port City FC (away), will be played at a later date.
Those dates, would be confirmed by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) who are the organizers of the competition.
