Ishmael Arthur of the Ghana Army won the men's 21km race in the 2026 Tampico Accra Inter-City Marathon held in the Ghanaian capital on Saturday.
The event started and finished at the Bukom Boxing Arena in Accra with over 2000 athletes taking part in the mass races.
There were competition in the women's 21km, wheelchair 21km, men and women 5km as well as 5km wheelchair races for men and women.
Arthur, dominated the field to win the men's race ahead of Atia Quagoe and Ebenezer Martey who finished second and third respectively.
For their troubles, Arthur took home GH¢20,000, a gold medal plus souvenirs from the sponsors.
Atia and Martey, took home silver and bronze medals as we as GH¢10,000 and GH¢5,000 respectively.
The women's 21km race was won by Portia Anaba of the Ghana Police Service with Alide Colet and Christiana Mumuni placing second and third.
Anaba, has a gold medal and souvenirs plus GH¢18,000 with GH¢8,000 and GH¢5,000 as well as silver and bronze medals going to Colet and Mumuni respectively.
Vivien Nartey, won the women's 5km race and took home GH¢3,000, a gold medal and souvenirs from the sponsors.
Winner Tualong and Ayishatu Salifu, placed second and third. They took home GH¢2,000 and aGH¢1,500 respectively plus souvenirs and a silver and bronze medals.
In the men's race, Daniel Abotsi won it, ahead of Peter Doste and Isaac Mensah.
The men's 5km wheelchair race was won by Mohammed Fadiga with Richard Essel and Bismark Adjei.
Samuela Owusu Ansah, won the women's race ahead of Safia Frukan and Ernestina Afriyie.
Emmanuel Kwaku Gyasi, won the wheelchair 21km race in a competition he dominated.
Organizers of the event Midevents Consult, have promised an even bigger event next year.
