Accra Hearts of Oak defender Kelvin Osei Assibey said they aim to win the 2025 President’s Cup for their fans as they go into this encounter.
The Phobians, will take on their arch rivals Asante Kotoko in the one off contest at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday with a giant trophy and prize money at stake.
And, Osei Assibey who was a main stay for the capital club last season, is aiming to lift the trophy as they prepare for next season.
“Our target is to win the game on Sunday and we will go into it fully prepared,” the defender told Sporty FM in Accra.
Asante Kotoko have dominated encounters between the two sides in recent times, including taking four points off the Phobians in the Ghana Premier League (GPL), last season.
“We are determined to end the dominance of Asante Kotoko over us in our recent outings, and the fans should expect something special from the team,” Assibey added.
“We want to win the trophy for our fans who have supported us faithfully over the last couple of years,” he said.
The game will be the first for Hearts of Oak’s new coach Didi Dramani who was confirmed as new helmsman last week.
He takes over from Ivorian Aboubakar Ouattara who was in charge of the Phobians for a-year-and-a-half.
The former Black Stars assistant coach, will look to start his reign with victory against his former employers with whom he won the GPL title twice as well as the MTN FA Cup competition.
Osei Assibey and his colleagues, will hope to give Coach Dramani a good welcome with victory on Sunday against their fiercest rivals on the local scene.
