The first edition of the Private Schools Sports Fiesta is poised to revolutionize the sports scene in Ghanaian schools, according to Kaysports’ CEO, Kwame Owusu-Ameyaw.
He emphasized that the forthcoming event will boost sports development in Ghana and uncover more talents for the nation.
Mr. Owusu-Ameyaw made these remarks during the event’s launch at an extravagant ceremony in Accra last Friday.
The event took place at the Mensah Sarbah Hall Football Park, University of Ghana, Legon, with many notable figures present.
“We aim to foster a competitive and dynamic atmosphere among private schools in Ghana to excel in sports and reveal hidden talents across the nation,”Mr. Owusu-Ameyaw expressed.
He further stated, “This will also promote sportsmanship, teamwork, and discipline among students as they aspire to build their careers.”
The Private Schools Sports Fiesta is a kaysports initiative, organized in collaboration with the Ghana National Council of Private Schools (GNACOPS) and the insurance firm GLICO.
The event is named “Private Schools Sports Fiesta and GLICO Sportsman Insurance” and will take place nationwide.
The sports fiesta will feature six sports disciplines: soccer, table tennis, volleyball, basketball, athletics, and taekwondo, where talents are plentiful in Ghana, especially at the private school level.
The competition will be conducted at zonal, district, regional, and national levels, specifically for students at the basic school level.
It will begin during the GNACOPS week celebrations in March and conclude in May this year, culminating in a national event to highlight this grand occasion.
