Medeama SC Retains Top Spot On GPL Table After Weekend’s Round Of Matches

Medeama SC retained top spot in the Ghana Premier League (GPL), after last weekend’s round of matches.

The Matchday Seven fixtures saw wins for The Yellow and Mauves, Heart of Lions, Aduana FC, FC Samartex 1996, Nations FC and Karela United.

In the eight matches played, 20 goals were scored with two of the games ending in a stalemate.

Medeama SC posted their fifth win of the campaign with a hard-fought 1-0 home win over Swedru All Blacks at the TnA Stadium, Tarkwa on Sunday.

They top the standing with 16 points from the seven matches they have played.

In second position with 15 points, are Aduana FC who scored a last gasp winner to beat Dreams FC 1-0 at the Nana Agyemang Badu I Park, Dormaa-Ahenkroh.

Heart of Lions are third on the table with 14 points after they recorded a comfortable 3-0 win over Basake Holy Stars at the Kpando Stadium.

Reigning champions Bibiani Gold Stars have 13 points and in fourth position after being held to a 2-2 drawn game at the Accra Sports Stadium by Hearts of Oak.

The Phobians also have 13 points and sit sixth on the table as they kept their unbeaten start to this campaign.

FC Samartex are fifth on the ladder also with 13 points after they defeated Hohoe United at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena, Samreboi.

Karela United beat Bechem United 2-0 at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium, Tamale to move seventh on the table with 12 points.

Young Apostles are eighth with 11 points after they drew 1-1 with Berekum Chelsea, and they do have an outstanding fixture against Asante Kotoko.

The Porcupines have three outstanding games of their own as the sit ninth on the ladder with eight points.

Nations FC beat Eleven Wonders 3-2 at the Dr Kwame Kyei Sports Complex, Abrankese in Kumasi to record their second win of the season.

They sit 12th on the stairs with eight points, level on points with Asante Kotoko, Hohoe Stadium and Vision FC.

In 13th, 14th, 15th, 16th, 17th nd 18th positions are, All Blacks, Bechem United, Berekum Chelsea, Dreams FC, Eleven Wonders and Basake Holy Stars respectively.
