Leadership Of Ghana Table Tennis Must Change – Adolf Awotwe

Founder of the Veterans Table Tennis Association in Ghana, Adolf Awotwe said, the leadership of the sport in the country must change following some poor performances at the national level in recent times.

Coach Awotwe, is not happy with the state of the sport at the moment, and is calling for reforms that would work in the best interest of all at this level.

“Losing to Togo and Benin at the ongoing ITTF West Africa Table Tennis Championship in Nigeria is not the best at all,” Awotwe said in an interview.

The poor performance of Team Ghana at the championship he narrated, is due to the ongoing court case between the IMC and the Ghana Table Tennis Association (GTTA), he stated.

No national table tennis competition have been held in Ghana for two years, and, this he said, has caused the downfall of players in the country.

“Players are not training and, do not participate in competitions,” Coach Awotwe added.

He also believes that the favouritism in the selection of players to the national level is not good and, this has affected the country to a large extend.

He has therefore called for a coming together of all stakeholders in the sport, (the GTTA, the IMC and the Veterans), to come together to make progress in the game.
