Ahead of the Matchday 32 action in the Ghana Premier League (GPL), this weekend, two clubs have already being relegated to the second tier league.
With three matches to end the 2024/25 season, Legon Cities and Nsoatreman FC have known their faith after failing to stay up with the competition.
Legon Cities FC, confirmed their relegation after last Monday’s 4-1 home defeat to leaders Nations FC.
Even if they win their remaining games, they cannot move out of the bottom three and, will play Division One football next season.
Nsoatreman FC, pulled out of the competition following the death of an Asante Kotoko supporter when they hosted the Porcupines at Nsoatre, an incident blamed on their club.
One other club will join the relegated clubs at the end of the campaign with up to nine clubs from the eighth to the 16th placed team on the table, all capable of being relegated.
The race for the title is between the first five clubs on the league table with Nations FC, Gold Stars, Heart of Lions, Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak, separated by eight points.
This weekend’s round of matches, will take us a step closer towards the winner of this season’s championship to take over from FC Samartex 1996 who won the diadem in the last campaign.
