Over 400 athletes and officials from across the continent took part in the competition.

The championship was hosted by the Nigeria Armwrestling Federation (NAWF) in collaboration with the Armwrestling Federation of Africa (AFA).

It was also a qualifier for the 2025 World Armwrestling Championship in Bulgaria, and also served as a key benchmark for the 2027 All-African Games in Egypt.
