Captain Thomas Partey, three others misses out in 2025 AFCON qualifiers against Sudan

Ghana will be without captain Thomas Partey, Joseph Painstil, Kingsley Schindler, and Osman Ibrahim for the 2025 AFCON qualifiers against Sudan.

The Black Stars will face the Sudanese in Accra on Thursday before heading to Libya for the next fixture next week Tuesday.

All four players have been ruled out due to injuries they picked up over the weekend, the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has confirmed.

The four players were initially part of Coach Otto Addo’s 25-man squad for the double header.

A GFA statement said, Thomas Partey is unable to join the Black Stars due to medical issues he is currently experiencing, with his English Premier League side Arsenal having also confirmed this.

On Joseph Paintsil, the GFA said, he experienced some pain in his hamstrings during their last game last Saturday, and cannot make the squad.

Osman Ibrahim, also experienced pain in his calf muscles during their last game and was substituted in the 65th minute, forcing him to sit out this Group F ties.

Kingsley Schindler, is unable to join the Black Stars due to a medical emergency he’s currently receiving treatment for.

Meanwhile, Coach Otto Addo, has has handed late call ups to Swedish-based Michael Baidoo, Francis Abu from Belgium, Switzerland-based Jonas Adjetey and Dutch-based Ibrahim Sadick as replacements for the missing four.
