Asante Kotoko withdraws from all football related activities until justice is served

Ghana Premier League (GPL), side Asante Kotoko have announced their withdrawal from all football activities following the death of staunch supporter, Francis Yaw Frimpong.

Frimpong, popularly known as Nana Pooley, was stabbed to death by unknown assailants during their GPL Matchday 19 fixture at Nsoatre last Sunday against home side Nsoatreman FC.

In a statement released on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, Asante Kotoko said, all first-team activities of the club have been put on hold and will only resume after justice is served.

As part of the measures to ensure justice is served, the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has suspended the Matchday 20 games.

The Nana Kronmansah Park has also been banned indefinitely with four Asante Kotoko players and six Nsoatreman FC players charged by the Disciplinary Committee of the GFA for bringing the game into disrepute.
