Asante Kotoko, Hearts of Oak Drop Points As 17 Goals Are Scored In Last Weekend’s GPL Action

Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko and their bitter rivals Accra Hearts of Oak both dropped points over the weekend as the Matchday 27 action in the Ghana Premier League (GPL), were cleared.

Asante Kotoko were held to a draw at home with the Phobians also drawing away in Tema.

In the eight matches played, 17 goals were scored with five home wins, an away win and two drawn games being recorded.

The action began last Friday at Tarkwa where Medeama SC ended the eight-game unbeaten run of Dreams FC with a 4-0 thrashing at the TnA Stadium.

The Yellow and Mauves, are fourth on the table with 41 points with Dreams FC ninth with 36 points after 26 matches.

On Saturday, Accra Lions came from behind to beat Basake Holy Stars 2-1 at the Accra Sports Stadium.

They however remain in the bottom three with 26 points with Holy Stars 12th with 30 points.

The rest of the Matchday 27 fixtures, were played on Sunday with Asante Kotoko drawing 1-1 with Bechem United at the Baba Yara Stadium, Kumasi.

The Porcupines, are top of the stairs with 47 points with United seven points behind the leaders in sixth position.

Bibiani Gold Stars beat Young Apostles FC 1-0 at the Dun’s Park, Bibiani to move level on points with Asante Kotoko at the top of the table.

Young Apostles, are 13th on the ladder with 30 points going into the midweek matches.

Vision FC drew 1-1 with Accra Hearts of Oak at the Nii Adjei Kraku Sports Complex, Tema New Town in a highly competitive fixture.

Vision FC, have 29 points in 14th position with the Phobians on 41 points and in fifth position.

Berekum Chelsea returned to winning ways with a slim 1-0 home win over Heart of Lions at the Golden City Park, Berekum.

The Bibries, are 10th on the ladder with 35 points whilst Lions are eighth with 38 points.

Karela United eased some of their relegation worries with a 2-0 win over Aduana FC at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium, Tamale.

United, are just above the relegation zone with 28 points, with Aduana FC on 32 points and in 11th position.

Legon Cities lost 2-0 at home to FC Samartex 1996 at the Tuba Astro Turf, Kasoa to remain in the relegation zone with 22 points.

FC Samartex are seventh on the table with 38 points as they continue with the defence of the title they won last season.
