Asante Kotoko Becomes Sixth Team To Do The Double Over Aduana FC In A Season

Asante Kotoko are the sixth team to win the double over Aduana FC in a season in the Ghana Premier League (GPL), since they joined the Elite Division in the 2009-10 season.

The Porcupines, posted a slim 1-0 victory at the Baba Yara Stadium, Kumasi on Sunday, to add to their 2-0 away win in during the first round of this campaign.

The win, moved Asante Kotoko to 50 points on the GPL table, three points behind leaders Bibiani Gold Stars with five matches to end the season.

The other five clubs that have done the double over Aduana FC, are

Amidaus Professionals who completed the task in the 2013-14 season.

Wa All Stars (Legon Cities), did it in the 2015-16 season with Bibiani Gold Stars doing it in the 2021-22 campaign.

FC Samartex 1996, did it in the 2023-24 season on their way to winning the title with Karela United also doing it that season.

Asante Kotoko is the sixth team to complete this feat as they seek a record extending 25th GPL title this season.

In the other Matchday 29 games played last weekend, Accra Lions eased some of their relegation worries with a 2-0 home win over Bechem United at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday.

Also on Saturday, Medeama SC continued with their good home form as they beat Young Apostles FC 3-0 at the TnA Stadium, Tarkwa.

On Sunday, Vision FC beat Gold Stars 2-0 at the Nii Adjei Kraku II Sports Complex, Tema New Town.

Dreams FC posted an important 2-1 away win over Karela United at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium, Tamale with Berekum Chelsea winning 1-0 at home to Nations FC at the Golden City Park, Berekum.

Reigning champions FC Samartex 1996, posted a comfortable 3-0 home win over Basake Holy Stars at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena, Samreboi with Legon Cities losing 1-0 at home to Kpando Heart of Lions.
